SCROLL WHILE LASSOING

PHOTOSHOP TIPS AND TRICKS: THURSDAY

If you've zoomed in to use the Lasso tool and you're nearing the edge of the window, you'll need to scroll over to continue using the Lasso. To do this, don't let go of the Lasso and press the Spacebar. This will temporarily activate the Hand tool so you can scroll to the side. Let go of the Spacebar to continue using the Lasso.

Copying layer styles onto other layers was a sore point for many Photoshop users. Now, in CS2 you can do just that by clicking the "f" icon and dragging it to another layer. Hold down the Option key (PC: Alt) to copy the style to another layer instead of just moving it.

TARGETTING VS. SELECTING LAYERS

PHOTOSHOP TIPS AND TRICKS: FRIDAY

Targeting and selecting layers in Photoshop CS2 is a very important distinction now that you can Command-click (PC: Control-click) or Shift-click to target multiple layers. Because of this, you need to pay attention to exactly where on the layer you're clicking. Click the layer thumbnail to select all non-transparent areas on the layer. Command-click (PC: Control-click) anywhere else on the layer to actually target it if you're targeting multiple layers.

BETTER SCRUBBERS

PHOTOSHOP TIPS AND TRICKS: THURSDAY

SORRY...for the delay this week with tips. I haven't been home at all or would have had it up for you all. Thanks for understanding......

In most dialogs you can use the scrubber (slider) to change measurements. To change the performance of the scrubber, try using these keys: Shift will make the scrubber jump very quickly to larger or smaller numbers; Option (PC: Alt) will slow down the scrubber to move one number at a time.

PHOTOSHOP TIPS AND TRICKS: MONDAY

Always do your cloning on an empty layer, leaving your Background layer intact. Remember to check the Sample All Layers box in the Options Bar to be sure you aren't sampling an empty layer.
